Wondering why you should care about mindfulness?
According to Psychology Today, mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you’re mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience. Being present with what is.
Studies + research point to the extensive benefits of mindfulness. (Details)
Boosts to working memory.
Greater ability to focus.
Less emotional reactivity.
More cognitive flexibility.
Enhanced self-insight, morality, intuition and fear modulation (basically all functions associated with the brain’s middle prefrontal lobe area.)
Health benefits, including increased immune functioning, improvement to well-being and reduction in psychological distress.
In addition, mindfulness meditation practice appears to increase information processing speed, as well as decrease task effort and having thoughts that are unrelated to the task at hand.
And so, my dear readers, this is why I share the Weekly Retreat with you.
