MY TOP 3 QUOTES FOR TODAY
- God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers. ~Jewish Proverb
- All mothers are working mothers. ~Author Unknown
- Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother. ~Oprah Winfrey
My friend had this comic on her blog today, which I enjoyed so much that I had to share it too!!
Mother’s Day is a day that I reflect on and give thanks to the wonderful women in my life who have stepped in and provided me with love, support and guidance. For me, this was never my own mother, since she became severely mentally ill when I was just 3 years old and has not been a part of my life since I was 7.
Since becoming a mother myself, and especially now that I have a daughter, I feel even more sadness for what happened to my own mother and even more awe inspired by the women who have helped and continue to support me.
Motherhood is the most difficult challenge I’ve experienced thus far. I feel blessed to have wonderful examples of moms within my family, my husband’s family and my friends. Women who continue to inspire me; who I continue to learn from and share with. And I thank you and love you all for what you’ve taught me and shared with me.
My SPA (Self-care Promotes Ability) Moment today? I had 30 minutes before anyone woke up so I fit my yoga in, had a few minutes to work on my blog and really held my children close today. They still fought and screamed and had their normal fits today, but I found myself a little more patient and more focused on catching all the moments when they were asking for hugs, kisses and snuggles. I rocked my 2 year old to sleep for her nap (which I don’t usually do because I want to make sure she can get herself to sleep!) I had tears in my eyes as her warmth and soft snoring reminded me what miracles they are – and that I can’t rock them forever!!
i love the “all mothers are working mothers” quote. i’m going to pass that one on. thank you.
