Exercise & Mommy Recovery

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”- Mark Twain

So I woke up after Friday’s Cardio Kickboxing class and could not move! But I had no choice….it was my little guy’s 1st day of soccer. It was 40 degrees and raining off & on – hmmm, maybe not the best day to introduce a bunch of 3 & 4 year olds to the game….but my kids don’t mind the cold.

My 1st “soccer mom” experience (not that I ever quite saw myself as soccer mom): As we headed for the door, my 2 year old decided she had to go potty. She never actually went – just took her sweet time sitting on her new Dora potty seat. I finally convinced her that we HAD to go and we all scrambled for our shoes and coats. I remembered that shin guards were required but I couldn’t remember for the life of me if the shin guards went under or over the socks!! Good thing he had sweat pants over because I chose wrong! He was a trooper once we got there and seemed to have fun even though he was the only one out of 16 boys without gloves or a hat…and it was COLD! My daughter’s lips were turning blue but she was more concerned with wanting her own soccer ball and trying to find dragons: they were doing drills called “feed the dragons” and she just kept crying “want to see dragons! want to see dragons!”

So all that to say that when my husband came home early from turkey hunting and dragged in piles of hunting clothes to wash, I decided that it was time for my break. I opted for a massage to help the muscle soreness from kickboxing so that I can actually move when I start boot camp on Monday! And I did not feel guilty…. I felt wonderful and grateful!!
