2018 Poem!
Hello dear ones…I’m so happy we’re all here
As most of you know…Thanksgiving’s my favorite time of year.
I can’t believe we’re nearing… the end of Twenty-eighteen
The year has zipped by… faster than most that I’ve seen.
So let’s let today be the day… we get to press pause
to love, listen and laugh with each other… all just because
Let’s release they “shoulda’s, woulda’s,” the wants and the worries
Let’s ban the busy-ness and screen time and stop the “hurry hurry”!
I invite you to just pause… and notice the next breath you take
cherish this day and this moment…and the memories we’ll each make
Let’s hug our “littles” closer …because they keep growing every day
Let’s cherish and thank our elders… for the roles they’ve each played
Because we all know that life delivers magnificent ups…and downs
Let’s soften our hearts and hold space for each other… to support the joys and the frowns.
And before we all head back to our daily distractions and routines
Just notice where your attention lies right now…and what it all means
Maybe we can create space and intention each and every day
To reach out and be there for each other, even in small ways
So, with that I thank you dear family for hosting ..and all that you’ve done
And thanks everyone for listening….now back to the eating and fun!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Love, Shari
shopping, cooking and cleaning.
Now it’s time to slow down, press pause,
give thanks and find meaning.
and I notice their needs are changing.
Our schedules are full….
and we’re constantly rearranging.
and unique levels of energy
Has been an amazing challenge…. requiring much agility.
The reminder of who’s picking up who,
what they need when…and it’s rarely the same!
What time to get up and what time to leave.
all I’ve done is plan and drive
The time together and “ I love you’s” I hear ….
fill our hearts and help us thrive.
gratitude for blessings all around
Despite influences everywhere promoting
newer, better, faster … making desire profound.
and the grounding presence of our mountain’s purples & blues
Forgotten equipment, assignments or lunches …
are simply lessons in planning and “time to slow down” cues.
or moments to pause and breathe…
or listen to books or music….or call friends or family.
We learn from daily disappointments
and things NOT going our way…
Because this forces us to grow, problem solve and discover
….what’s most important today.
noticing the wind rustling through the grass
Feeling the warmth of the sun…seeing cars whizzing past.
I cherish our time together and will have no regrets.
… and what may have changed?
What plans have you let go, what have you re-arranged?
call them changes, phases, chapters or seasons.
They’ll challenge us all, whether or not we’re ready
….or understand the reasons.
And cheers to finding gifts in the challenges ….once again this year!
