Since sharing my blog, a few people have asked me how I have the time. The truth is that when I made the commitment to myself to resume a healthy lifestyle and share my thoughts and journey with others – I didn’t have any time for anything. I was overwhelmed with paperwork and running our home office while juggling the kids without any regular help.
I felt guilty all the time because I had to sneak work in and and let the kids watch more TV than they should. The laundry was taking over the house and who can keep up with cleaning 5 bathrooms! We weren’t seeing friends or family much because I felt like I was a slave to the business, the house, and the never ending to do list – there just wasn’t any time and I was too tired.
So it might seem crazy that I chose to add one more thing to my plate, but the amazing thing is, by taking the step to prioritize and share the importance of self-care, positive inspiration & motivation, I am finding MORE time.
It’s a slow journey but carving out a little time for MY passions and priorities is helping me become more efficient at the mundane but necessary household and office responsibilities … and ever so slowly, I feel that I’m catching up and starting to make more quality time with those I love. I have more energy and more of a positive outlook. One more example of how Self-care Promotes Ability!!
I love that quotation from Stephen Covey! I read “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” in grad school for an education class and it was one of the best books I could have ever read for that time in my life. It taught me that it’s ok to say no sometimes and that we make the decisions as to what’s important in life. It also taught me that I shouldn’t do things out of a feeling of obligation, but rather because I truly enjoy them and want to do them. Great quote! Great book! And I love that picture!
