Thrilled to be a certified Six Seconds EQ
(Emotional Intelligence) Assessor!
You’ve heard this truth: “Awareness is the first step”
So how aware are you of your emotions and what they mean?
Emotions are at the heart of every decision, action and stressor in our lives.
And I have great news:
Its time to stop fighting your feelings…and learn to extract the wisdom from them!
Why you should care about your EQ?
The Six Seconds network I now represent includes over 50,000 members, with offices and representatives in over 25 countries.
Through 15 years of global experience and extensive research, the 6seconds network has discovered that the scientifically-based skills of emotional intelligence (EQ) are essential for change.
These skills are learnable, and predict stronger effectiveness, influence, decision making, health, relationships, and quality of life (data).
Therefore, our vision is that by 2039: one billion people will be practicing the skills of emotional intelligence.
As you’re getting ready to head into the new year, I thought I’d share an “assignment” I did as part of my certification.
We chose one of the 8 competencies measured in our SEI assessment and then used a fun or creative way to explain or illustrate it.
I wrote a poem, which I was told was a Six Seconds first! 🙂
Pursue Noble Goals
Let’s talk Noble goals and what they’re for
So you can pursue and put into action more
They differ from a Mission which is something you do
The noble goal is the reason WHY for you.
A Noble Goal is more of something to be.
To benefit others…think- your legacy.
A Noble goal is how you work & live…how freeing
It’s about connecting with meaning and purpose and being
So the next time you’re irked by stressors… and tired
Try to find greater purpose in the tasks and mire.
My point in sharing with you here?
To encourage you to stay connected to your purpose during the hustle and bustle of this time of year.
Plus, I wanted you to know that you have emotional intelligence…and there are some beautiful ways to understand it, harness it and use it in your life. Especially critical for us busy working mamas who need all the support we can get!
Here are a few things you can do right now.
Practice by taking a few seconds, a few times a day, to check in with these 3 simple questions:
- What am I feeling?
- What options do I have?
- What do I really want?
And then making a decision from this place of awareness, vs. reactivity.
